RUSTIFICATION
(schools and universities)

PREAMBLE

The Rustification Program is a training initiative by Hands On Human Rights aimed at schools and universities, offering intensive educational experiences focused on developing self-awareness, emotional resilience, interpersonal trust, and social co-responsibility.

Inspired by Hands On Human Rights' practical work in contexts of armed conflict, humanitarian crises, and natural disasters, the program adapts this methodology to the educational environment, offering structured experiences that allow participants to reframe their personal histories, understand their vulnerabilities, and prepare for the challenges of life in society and contemporary violence.

Faced with a significant increase in cases of anxiety, psychological suffering, profound sadness, and suicidal ideation — both in the school environment (bullying, exclusion, symbolic violence) and in the university and professional context (moral and sexual harassment, pressure for performance, extreme competitiveness) — the Rustification Program emerges as a safe space for reflection, experience, and transformation, offering concrete tools for emotional strengthening, relational ethics, and empathy.

The program's methodology is organized around a formative path composed of four fundamental axes: identifying, co-responsibility, deconstructing, and re-signifying. Through individual and collective experiences, participants are invited to recognize situations of violence and exclusion, assume co-responsibility for the contexts in which they are inserted, question naturalized patterns of behavior, and build new ways of relating to themselves, to others, and to the community.

The Rustification Program invites participants to conscious vulnerability, teamwork, and overcoming limits, always respecting human dignity. By recognizing human perfectibility, the program promotes an ethical understanding that everyone is capable of learning, making mistakes, repairing, and transforming.

Like other Hands On Human Rights projects, the Rustification Program seeks to train agents of change, capable of applying the skills developed in their territories, schools, universities, and social networks, generating a positive, sustainable, and lasting impact.

Reflection combined with experience constitutes the first conscious step towards profound changes, both individually and collectively, strengthening communities that are more empathetic, responsible, and committed to human rights.
